Turbo Project Update 7
March 2nd update:
With the intake and exhaust work fabricated, I drove it all to expert TIG welder and Powder Coater Bob Miller at Dare Devil Choppers. The intake piping will be powder coated; when the exhaust is welded it will be sent to a ceramic coater.
I removed the engine and transmission without unbolting the subframe, thus maintaining my suspension and steering alignment. The clutch and flywheel were also removed, and I was puzzled to see no obvious reason for the stock clutch slipping, as it appeared to be barely worn. Also spilled most of the transmission fluid on the garage floor, but thanks to Oil-Dry, it's under control. Next I'll dump out the rest of the coolant and oil when I remove the oil filter canister.
Also, the new injectors were found to fit in the intake manifold without modification; only spacers to the fuel rail mount will be required.
Lastly, the serpentine assembly was finally finished, the correct size belt came in from special order at Mazza, a Goodyear 35.5" 6-rib. Of course, pictures:
