Turbo Project Intro
Phase 3, The Turbo Project, leaves the engine long block and core ECM stock, removes the supercharger, and impliments a single intercooled turbo. Since this project is under construction, this page will offer a step-by-step order of operations during this Project.
The basics of the design are as follows:
Boost to be set at a reasonable-for-stock-pistons 16 to 20 PSIg with a Hallman Pro RX ceramic-ball Manual Boost Controller
Turbo selected is the Garrett GT3071R-WG 0.64 turbine A/R 84 trim
Intercooler to be an air-to-air front mounted
A/C system will be removed to accomidate placement of intercooler
UNIchip piggyback ECM will be used for fuel and ignition tuning
Injectors are from Racetronix, and are Delphi type 50Lb/Hr ball & seat style
All intake and exhaust components to be hand-jigged and welded
Intake path will be 2.5" aluminum tubing, exhaust will be 3" ceramic coated steel tubing with two perf-core mufflers, high flow catalytic converter and v-band attachments
Blow-off-valve is a Turbosmart plumb-back style for discreet operation
Clutch is a Clutch Masters Stage 3, Flywheel is from UUC and is lightweight
Keeping stock transmission and axles for now
Engine mounts are pending improvement/stiffening/strengthening
Most of the parts are here! late Jan. '06
